Bird Walk with Golden Gate Audubon Society: March 18th, 8:30 am at Bayfront Park

Friends of Pinole Creek Watershed is pleased to welcome community members to a bird walk with the Golden Gate Audubon Society. Derek Heins, guest speaker at the Birds of our Watershed talk, will lead a bird walk in the Pinole Creek Watershed. You can find the slides from Derek’s talk on Friends of Pinole Creek’s website here. Parking and bathrooms are available at Bayfront Park. We hope to see you soon!

SHACK15 Conversations: No Trace Trails

Feb 22, 2023

Join Win Cowger, the scientist who supported a trash assessment of the Pinole Creek Watershed, for for an evening of trash talk. No Trace Trails will share its plan to conduct the largest-of-its-kind litter and microplastic survey, hiking 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada along the Pacific Coast Trail. 

Presentation on Birds in our Watershed

February 2nd, 2023: 6:30-8:00 pm at the Pinole Library

Friends of Pinole Creek Watershed is pleased to welcome community members to an educational event with the Golden Gate Audubon Society. Join us in the community meeting room at the Pinole Library!

Guest speaker, Derek Heins, will present about bird life in the Pinole Creek Watershed. The Golden Gate Audubon Society engages people to experience the wonder of birds and to translate that wonder into actions which protect native bird populations and their habitats.

Pollinator Planting: Native Plants for Pollinators

Date: 11/5/22 9:00am-2:00pm

Location: Upper Watershed (a mile past Castro Ranch on Alhambra Valley Road

Friends of Pinole Creek Watershed was awarded a habitat kit with 85 native plants from the Xerces Society to develop habitats that support monarchs and other pollinators. 

We will be planting in the Upper Watershed (a mile past Castro Ranch on Alhambra Valley Road) on Saturday, November 5th and are looking for volunteers to help plant 85 plants. Water and snacks provided. Kids are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a well-behaved adult. Due to parking, we will limit the group to 25; don’t miss out!
