March Creek Cleanup and Pollinator Garden Workday

What a great day! We had 40 volunteers total, including Earth Team interns, and folks from Richmond, Danville, and Lafayette. We separated into three groups: ET interns did a trash assessment east of where we started, a group went to the Y, and about 10 folks worked in the garden. See below for a photo of the culvert that is to be replaced so that trout can go higher upstream.

Totals: 235 lbs., 126 gallons + 2 tires, a barrel dresser, car parts in 2 locations, hazardous materials (auto fluids), carpets, a plastic chair, and dresser.

Thanks to February rain and warm days, a lot of the plantings in the Pollinator Garden in the Upper Watershed are showing new growth. So are the weeds! Join us for a morning of weeding, pruning and general cleanup. We will help you distinguish between plants and weeds. We'll also send teams out to clean up trash along Alhambra Valley Rd so that it isn't washed into the creek. There is limited parking at the site, so carpool if you are able. The site is approximately 1.5 miles past the intersection with Castro Ranch Rd, past the two washouts. Here is a google  maps link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/vQ7omzfv8aRY95Lv5.
